About the workshop
This virtual workshop is a continuation of the NOAA series of workshops on “Leveraging AI in Environmental Sciences.” The third event continues the successes of previous workshops and encourages participation by scientists, program managers, and leaders from the public, academic and private sectors who work in AI and environmental sciences. The theme for this year’s workshop is “Transforming Weather, Climate Services, and Blue Economy with Artificial Intelligence.” This year’s workshop is led by the NOAA Center for Artificial Intelligence (NCAI), a program in the formulation stage.

He then transitioned to NOAA Corps and served as the Operations Officer on the NOAA Ship Ka`imimoana. Following his sea assignment, he served as the NOS hydrographic data manager for NGDC in Boulder, Colorado. NGDC offered him a permanent position so he transitioned out of the NOAA Corps to civilian life. Calling Boulder home, he joined the local volunteer fire department and now serves as a battalion captain. With the burning desire to constantly learn something new, he went back to school and got his second Master’s degree. This one was in Organizational Leadership from the University of Colorado. Utilizing his new degree, he is slowly becoming NOAA’s Intrapreneur where he is leading positive change, promoting progressive thinking, encouraging taking risks, and accepting smart failures.
